About dulse
dulse is a two-person business that builds and looks after websites, and sorts out the systems behind them. One of us is in Edinburgh, the other in Copenhagen, and we work with small businesses wherever they are.
Dulse is a seaweed that grows on the rocks along this coast. For most of its life it is the stuff you step over on the way to the water: unremarkable, a bit in the way, not worth stopping for. People who know what they are looking at have been harvesting it for centuries, because it turns out to be the good part.
Most small businesses have something like that in them. The job everyone works around. The spreadsheet three people quietly maintain. The website nobody has opened in two years. It is never the interesting part, so it never gets looked at, and it is almost always where the time is going.
That is the bit we are interested in. We started dulse because too many good small businesses were being let down by their own setup, then quoted corporate prices, in language nobody explained, to fix it. Our job is to go and look at the unglamorous part, and put it right.
How we work
We learn your business
Before we build anything we want to understand how you actually work and who's doing what. The right fix usually depends on the people, not the software.
Plain English
No acronyms, no tech speak. We explain everything clearly and make sure you understand what you're getting before we start.
No lock-in
Your website belongs to you. We don't use proprietary systems that trap you. If you ever want to move on, we'll help you do it.
Fair pricing
We charge fairly for what we do. No surprise invoices. If something changes, we talk about it before it affects your bill.
